Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer II to support the development and enhancement of tactical network systems. The role involves designing and implementing software solutions in response to evolving requirements, integrating new technologies, and working closely with Army stakeholders to ensure that software tools meet operational needs. The successful candidate will develop secure, high-performance prototypes and contribute to their deployment in tactical environments, while maintaining clear communication with various stakeholders and development teams.

- Software Development: Develop software solutions to meet evolving user requirements, integrating new technologies and protocols.
- Collaboration: Engage with Army stakeholders to understand operational needs and produce software tools that meet user and mission requirements.
- Prototyping and Deployment: Build and deploy high-quality software prototypes that can smoothly transition into full operational use.
- Feedback Integration: Incorporate feedback from users to refine and improve software capabilities over time.
- Documentation and Testing: Ensure that software development processes are well-documented, tested, and securely deployed.
- Cross-Team Communication: Work effectively with government leadership, technical teams, vendors, and warfighters to align software solutions with mission objectives.
Technical Skills and Requirements:
- Programming Languages: Proficiency in Java, C#, C, C++, or JavaScript.
- Service Architecture and APIs: Experience with REST, Open API, and service-oriented architectures.
- Virtualization and Containers: Experience with virtualization and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), as well as databases.
- Linux Scripting: Strong experience with Linux scripting frameworks and automation tools, such as PowerShell.
- Version Control: Familiarity with version control systems like Git, and experience managing codebases.
- Test-Driven Development: Use of test-driven development methodologies for ensuring operational reliability and software quality.
- Network and Security: Basic understanding of network architecture, cybersecurity practices, and group policy implementations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Testing, or a related field. (Alternatively, a BS can be substituted with an additional 5 years of related tactical network software engineering experience.)
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience in tactical network software engineering functions.
- Strong knowledge of software development processes, testing, and documentation practices, with a focus on delivering secure and high-performance software.
- Ability to work across different teams and present technical findings to senior leaders effectively.
