The ideal candidate must be comfortable in communicating both verbally and in writing to personnel at all levels of technical expertise. Travel is a large part of this job, with notice as little as 24 hours. This position reports to the PW Segment Manager Automation USA.

An Automation Field Engineer is primarily responsible to diagnose and repair automated welding equipment and the computer systems that control it. This position requires a background in:
- Electronic and/or Electro-mechanical support and repair
- Machinery software operating systems
- Welding processes - GMAW, GTAW & PAW
- Training in the use and general maintenance of equipment

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Position Location - Houston, Texas
- Reporting Supervisor - Fronius USA PW Segment Manager Automation
- Team Leader in charge of Automation Service Personnel
- Training of Automation Service Personnel, TSN and Regional TSR & TSA personnel
- Documenting level of proficiency
- Including fully using CRM and RESCO app
- All customer visits require service order whether paid, "good faith" , or warranty
- Scheduling of Automation Service Personnel; possibly TSN and Regional TSR personnel
- Handheld Automation System Sales Demonstration and Training Support
- In-house
- Trade Shows
- Customized system training in Austria
- Customer calibration to standard calibration procedures set by TSN Manager
- System Installations
- Customer owned
- Customer rental units
- Reporting of installations through CRM RESCO application
- Certifying customers' operators and maintenance personnel are fully trained on equipment purchase
- System Installations
- Handheld Automation System Sales Demonstration and Training Support
- After sales & warranty work
- Reporting of after sales & warranty through CRM RESCO app.
- Houston lab demonstrations and application work
- Reporting of all in lab weld tests and documentation per procedures set by TSN Manager
- Managing Fronius USA Automation in-house (Houston) repairs
- Coordinate and assign all in-house demonstrations and application work to automation service team
- Ensuring Service Hours are properly allocated to regional Automation Sales in CRM
- Maintaining Houston Application and Demonstration Facilities in good working order and customer presentable condition at all time
- Maintain Automation Rental Equipment Fleet in good operational condition
- Equipment is cleaned
- Equipment is tested and available for rental
- Maintaining Customer Service Records in CRM
- Maintaining Automation Service Documents on Share Point for all USA Automation Installations and Upcoming Installations
- Assist Automation Manager in interviewing service candidates
- All other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited educational institution in Mechanical and Electrical Technology; Military certification in Mechanical Electrical Technology or 5-10 years of Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance experience or Bachelor Science Engineering Degree from an accredited educational institution Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Welding
- Regular Travel
- Must have and maintain a valid USA driver's license
- Possess a valid passport and/or has the ability to obtain and pay for a valid passport

- Ability to bend and reach, with repetitive motion
- Hearing, naturally or with aids
- Vision 20/20, with or without correction
- Physical demands of the job include: standing, use of hands to manipulate objects, talking, hearing, looking, typing, walking, twisting, and bending
- Employees could be requested to lift, carry, reach above the shoulder, stoop, squat, kneel, and crouch
- Employees could be required to lift up to 50 pounds
- Employees will perform duties in an office environment and a field setting
- Employees will be occasionally exposed to tripping hazards
- Employee will be exposed to excessive noise level in the work environment which will require ear protection
- Employee will be exposed to welding arcs that emit UV light which requires the wearing of appropriate clothes
- At customer facilities, the employee could be exposed to higher temperatures (exceeding 100F), high humidity (over 50%), and industrial dirt and grime
