Profile Summary:
The Head of Investment Risk will report to the Resolution Life US Chief Risk Officer and take on accountability for assessing investment risks throughout the global organization. The Head of Investment Risk is responsible for maturing our investment risk management framework, including market and credit and counterparty risks. This framework includes investment concentration limits across all assets but with a particular focus on direct lending, other private credit strategies, securitized assets, and private equity format alternative assets. As such the Head of Investment Risk will oversee a small team of professionals with specialist capabilities in ALM and credit risk. The Head of Investment Risk will oversee the development and maintenance of policies and limits for Investment risks and ensure that these are implemented and adhered to by the business functions.

Profile Responsibilities:
- Lead the Investment Risk team providing appropriate insight and assurance to the CRO & key US stakeholders (including the executive team, Board & regulators) about the investment and market risks facing the business (both current and emerging).
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive investment risk strategy and framework, with supporting components including relevant policies and procedures, risk appetite, stress and scenario testing, risk management information and risk governance. These to be delivered consistent with the holistic Enterprise Risk Management Framework
- Develop & deliver a program of investment controls testing in conjunction with 1st line & Internal Audit
- Serves as the Risk Business Partner to Investment Management.
- Develop clear investment risk framework covering appropriate credit risk factors across all asset classes.
- Deploy specialist credit risk capability, with expertise in private assets, to support and challenge first line credit risk assessments as well as the valuation process, including level 2 and 3 assets.
- Develop and maintain a clear credit and counterparty risk framework and derivatives use policy.
- Maintain a clear and effective ALM policy, deploying specialist capability, and monitor compliance across the Company
- Provide effective oversight and challenge to investment activity in the first line.
- Providing thought leadership and insights that help to shape the strategic value and contribution of the Investment Risk capabilities, providing innovative ideas while balancing regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships and communication with local management and the Risk Committee to ensure concerns around key investment risks and control issues are addressed and by identifying and assessing strategic risks and emerging issues that could impact the Company.
- Provide the Group Risk Director and Group Chief Investment Officer regular insight on the effectiveness and adequacy of risk management, control, and governance processes.
- Collaborate with the investment management team to ensure investment strategies and decisions are aligned with the company's risk appetite and objectives. Provide risk insights and analytics to support portfolio optimization and capital allocation decisions.
- Provide investment risk input and opinions on large transactions.
- Act as a senior Risk professional within the Risk function, contributing to policies, standards, frameworks and thought leadership required for ongoing Risk optimisation
Knowledge & Skill
- Qualified to Degree level and/or equivalent Professional insurance qualification
- Minimum of 10-15 years' portfolio management or investment risk management experience gained in multinational Financial Services industry
- Broad and holistic understanding of life insurance investment management & operations
- Deep understanding of investment risk management principles, financial markets, investment instruments, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record of developing analytical tools and management reporting to better inform decision making.
- Experience leading and managing large scale initiatives and managing associated change.
- Evidence of leading high performing teams in a risk discipline.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Proven track record of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making in complex legal and business environments.
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships, across different functions and different geographical regions
- Ability to work with external third-party managers to manage Investment Risks.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
- Demonstrates leadership, integrity, and professionalism in handling risk matters and building a culture of risk & control.

- New York City and West Chester, PA: $225,000 - $275,000
