Position Overview
The Mechanical Superintendent will oversee and manage all mechanical aspects of our water projects and other jobs as needed. This role requires a strong leader with extensive experience in mechanical systems, project management, and team coordination. The ideal candidate will ensure that all mechanical work is completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
District Overview
Kiewits Southern California District is one of Kiewits leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil projects that include earth moving, water/wastewater, transportation, roadways, and power projects. Most of our work is concentrated in the Southern California region.
Location
We are looking for Superintendents to work out of one of our many SoCal based projects. This position could be located in Santa Fe Springs, Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, San Fernando Valley and/or Glendora, CA.
Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, and coordinate all mechanical activities on assigned projects.Supervise and mentor mechanical crews, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.Ensure all mechanical work meets project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.Monitor and control project costs, ensuring efficient use of resources and materials, and approve monthly job cost updates.Identify and resolve any mechanical issues or challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.Maintain positive relationships with clients, addressing any concerns and providing regular project updates.Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, schedules, and change orders.Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor levels, material quantities, and equipment requirementsManage contract administration (subcontractor/field management)Mentor and help to grow fellow Kiewit staff through performance evaluations
Qualifications
5+ years of construction experience with 3+ years in a Superintendent/leadership capacityAssociated or Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferredAdvanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documentsAbility to quickly learn and understand various processes regarding Kiewits policies, procedures and software programs.Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.Excellent organizational, administrative, communication and interpersonal skills.Strong experience in Leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administrationAbility to access all areas on a construction project site

Regular, reliable attendanceWork productively and meet deadlines timelyCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environmentPerform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.May work at various different locations and conditions may vary
Base Compensation: $87,319 - $206,336
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
