Our Quality interns apply existing skill sets to ensure that parts are manufactured to the proper specifications and provide problem solving support in the event of an issue arising. These efforts can be applied to short or long-term projects, from prototype to low volume production manufacturing. Candidates should have a basic understanding of manufacturing processes, measurement methods, and the reading and interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
Position will require working individually, under the mentorship of a Quality department mentor, and/or with a small team of engineers/inspection technicians. Projects include motorsports, automotive, defense and commercial industries.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:
First article, in process, and final inspection of parts using a variety of metrology equipment
Working with manufacturing, engineering, customer, and/or supplier personnel in problem solving efforts
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Understanding of interpretation of engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and
Tolerancing.
Basic understanding of measuring instruments used for inspections.
General knowledge of common manufacturing processes to produce parts, such as machining, metal fabrication, welding, heat treating, etc.
Technical writing skills for reports and specifications using MS Word and Excel; good platform skills using PowerPoint for presentations.
Desired Education and Training:
BS or MS candidate in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering
Desired Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with manipulating 3D models to be used in 3D metrology measuring software packages
Ability to interpret measurement findings to provide feedback to manufacturing with the goal of improving part quality
Pay Range:
$18.00 - $37.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
