is seeking a
full-time School-Based Clincian l/ll
to join our
Substance Use
team! This candidate will perform intermediate professional work in the school and office setting, providing direct clinical service to clients involving intake, assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, providing prevention services , managing cases, providing therapy, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Program Manager for SUD OP Services.Essential FunctionsDevelops and facilitates psycho-educational groups; provides individual, family and group counseling; implements treatment plans; coordinates daily treatment schedule.Monitors and manages an assigned caseload.Provides crisis intervention services to individuals and families.Develops and maintains administrative and clinical files; prepares various reports and case related correspondence.Provides consultation, education and prevention services; provides drug and alcohol testing.Participates in clinical, administrative and supervisory meetings; collaborates with other staff members and school personnel concerning cases.Performs intakes, client assessments and diagnostic interviews, and develops and writes comprehensive intake and diagnostic summaries and reports; conducts mental health assessment and monitors level of functioning.Delivers, provides and monitors medications; provides physician and staff with updates; maintains medical records in accordance with standards.Prioritizes medication and/or lab work monitoring with medical staff to maintain compliance.Manages and documents contacts; enters and updates information in database.Coordinates case management services; coordinates and links client to community resources and medical services; interfaces with other service providers and client support system.Attends professional conferences and trainings as required.Provides transportation assistance, as needed.Attends court as needed to update the court on the participant's progress and/or status of new referrals.Supervises student interns as directed.Prioritizes medication and/or lab work monitoring with medical staff to maintain compliance.Manages and documents contacts; enters and updates information in database.Coordinates case management services; coordinates and links client to community resources and medical services; interfaces with other service providers and client support system.Attends professional conferences and trainings as required.Provides transportation assistance, as needed.Attends court as needed to update the court on the participant's progress and/or status of new referrals.Supervises student interns as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of the principles and practices of providing care to individuals who may be emotionally disturbed, socially dysfunctional, behaviorally disordered, suffer from mental illness and/or substance use disorders, and their families; general knowledge of community resources and human services network; general knowledge of community-based behavioral health principles and psychotherapeutic treatment techniques; general knowledge of the theories and techniques of counseling and crisis intervention; thorough knowledge of intake techniques and procedures; ability to evaluate and screen clients; ability to prepare adequate records and to report findings and data effectively; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, consultants, community partners, law enforcement, associates and the general public.
Position Requirements
Education and ExperienceMaster's degree with coursework in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field and moderate experience working with clients with behavioral health disorders and/or developmental disabilities in a behavioral healthcare setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical RequirementsThis is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions; worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
Special RequirementsValid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.CPR, CPI, Medication Technician and Prescreener certifications.QMHP, RN, CSAC, CADC or certification/license eligible preferred.
