Performance and provision of these services require knowledge and experience in logistics and import government regulations. This role will support compliant and effective import/export activities required by BDP clients. The decisions made by the regulatory specialist are of significant importance to both BDP and our clients as the impact is both from a monetary (duty rates) and relationship perspective with governmental agencies. Exercising good discretion and sound judgment is paramount considering the consequences of incorrect decisions.Primary Responsibilities:Classifies products according to the HTS
Applies regulatory, judicial, international and/or Customs and Border Protection decisions to products being classified.Determines other government agency requirements applicable to the product.
Evaluates qualification for Free Trade Agreement (FTA) eligibility
Utilizes FTA specific Rules of Origin for qualification determination.
Secondary Responsibilities:Provides consulting to clients on Regulatory issues as requested.Prepares various reports which assist in compliance analysis utilizing experience in ACE reporting, SAP data and reporting, and Excel for analysis.Participates in client meetings, including presentation of data, duty saving, and optimization programs.Other duties as assigned and required.Job Requirements:Qualified Experience/Skills/Training:Strong, demonstrable knowledge of U.S. Customs laws and regulations is required.Two (2) years minimum experience in tariff classification and Free Trade Agreement qualifications.Excellent communication skills with clients is a must.Strong analytical skills are preferred.Education / Special Qualifications:U.S. Customs Broker License is a plus.Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is a plus.Please note: There is no relocation or immigration assistance associated with this opening.Compensation based on experience.
