Position Summary:
This position is a key player on the content team responsible for driving strategy and execution for event presentation, inclusive of oversight of relevant game night staff (dance teams, PA announcer, DJ, mascot, etc), along with broadcast operations and how the Sun brand comes to life on digital and linear media. This position is also responsible for oversight of online and in-arena merchandise, including the achievement of revenue goals and fan satisfaction metrics. In addition, this position will lead project management across the content team, assuring that projects are properly prioritized and delivered on deadline.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
Create processes and institute use of tools that track the development and final execution of content materials across mediums (social media, broadcast, in-arena), optimizing efficiency and delivering on time and within the format requested.
Develop strategy for and oversee an entertaining, engaging, on brand, and best in class event presentation that exceeds fan expectations and establishes home team advantage.
Lead in-arena content ideation sessions.
Work with creative team to create/write/manage all in-arena videos including but not limited to: Team Video Open, Match-Up Videos, 2nd Half Video Open, features and more.
Hire, train and manage all game night entertainment team members, including emcee, DJ, mascot and in-game outside entertainment, inclusive of halftime entertainment.
Work with mascot and creative team to develop all in-game skits.
Hire, train and manage dance team coordinators/choreographers, oversee the selection of team members, and oversee the rehearsal schedules to ensure optimal performance across all three dance teams.
Hire and manage local team broadcast talent, inclusive of play by play and color analyst.
Work with all national and local team broadcast partners to ensure that all production needs are met and that the feature content is entertaining and reinforcing brand and team narratives.
Work with team merchandise partner to create on brand, cutting edge merchandise that appeals to all segments of the fan base, ultimately driving top line revenue and enhancing the fan experience.
Developing a marketing plan that will ensure the achievement of in-arena and online merchandise revenue goals.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as arena liaison for production including lighting, audio, signage, and any other in-arena production requirements, along with all broadcast production needs inclusive of talent set-up and transmission
Plan, market, and execute all game night entertainment tryouts (emcee, DJ, dance teams and mascot).
Identify new/quality vendors for apparel and novelty products
Ensure that the online merchandise buying experience is seamless and fan friendly.
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
Bachelors’ Degree in Sports Management, Business or a related field
Four years of marketing experience including two years of game operations experience with a professional sports team
Knowledge of and experience in entertainment industry (dance, music, etc)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
In lieu of a Degree and previously mentioned experience, seven years of marketing experience with a professional sports team may be considered
Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
Knowledge of Mohegan Sun corporate and department policies and procedures
Understanding of project management tools
Effective utilization of Mohegan Sun Evaluation programs
Thorough understanding of the Mohegan Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO) as it relates to employment
Training Requirements:
Excellent knowledge of Ascent, EmpowerTime and Manager Self Service systems
Knowledge of Mohegan Sun budget planning and analysis process and procedures
Mohegan Sun CER and purchasing procedures
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Office work environment
Game night in-arena activities
Overnight travel may be required
Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
