Job Title: Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Location: Westfield, NJ (Onsite and Remote) Job Type: Full-Time Reports To: Dr. Shavar Chase
Job Summary: The Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide compassionate, comprehensive mental health care to patients across the lifespan in a small, family-like private practice. This role involves conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, developing individualized treatment plans, prescribing medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The PMHNP will contribute to a growing practice while benefiting from a supportive and close-knit work environment.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments for diverse patients. Diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health disorders. Develop and implement personalized treatment plans. Prescribe medications and other treatments as needed. Provide psychotherapy and counseling to individuals, couples, and families. Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists, and social workers. Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans based on patient response. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and care plans. Using an EHR system, maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient interactions and care. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and continuing education initiatives. Stay informed of the latest practices, research, and psychiatric and mental health care trends to enhance clinical outcomes.
Qualifications: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing specializing in Psychiatric and Mental Health. Current and valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New Jersey. Certification as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in psychiatric or mental health care, demonstrating strong clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care, especially in a growing practice setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems. Bilingual or multilingual proficiency. Specialized experience in areas such as child and adolescent psychiatry, substance abuse treatment, or trauma-informed care.
