Mathews VDC Team. The VDC Engineer will be responsible for learning, executing and improving the way our team uses BIM and other construction technologies to support our project teams. This will include the creation, management, and review of BIM content to ensure a comprehensive building design ahead of construction. They will be tasked with utilizing 3D models to find creative solutions to challenging design problems and communicate those solutions to our design team and subcontractors. The purpose of the VDC team is to support our project teams by leveraging our knowledge of modeling technologies to facilitate the building construction. The best candidate will be someone who prides themselves in being detail oriented and an accurate modeler.ResponsibilitiesModel, coordinate, and assist in providing shop drawings for concrete structures while communicating closely with PMs and Superintendents.Generate 2D & 3D site logistics, phasing, excavation, GAP, and crane models.Review design team 3D models and drawings to evaluate constructability and design completion.Develop, manage, and maintain BIM content for design and construction.Work with senior leadership to develop and improve the current VDC program.Regulate personal workload without close supervision.Creative use of VDC technology to solve complex problems on a case-by-case basis.MEPFP trade BIM coordination.Identify constructability issues and missing information, inform the project team, and assist in management of solutions.Creation of model-based marketing materials.Quantity Takeoff and Extraction.Perform QA/QC checks between 3D models and 2D drawings.Regular evaluation and self-education of emerging construction technology.Manage 3D model access and updates for project teams.Possible Other Responsibilities (depending on the candidate)Drone photography.Provide training on VDC programs and processes to project team members.Support company layout processes.The creation of schematic design studies and massing models.Communicate and manage relationships with designers, engineers, subcontractors, and owners.Required QualificationsThis person will help create, lead, and implement the VDC program at R.C. Mathews. We are seeking a motivated individual who is comfortable creating their own path. This person can gain the trust of their co-workers quickly and has a can-do attitude to get the job done right.Associates degree or bachelor’s degree (Architecture, Engineering or Construction fields).Minimum 2 years’ Revit modeling and drawing experience in industry.Some proficiency in AutoCAD and Navisworks.Understanding of key construction concepts and schedules.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.Possesses strong technical skills and creative problem-solving abilities.*Equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of the above requirements.Preferred QualificationsExperience as an Architectural modeler or detailer.Previous BIM coordination experience.3D quantity extraction experience.Drone pilot certification.Experience with concrete construction.Site survey and layout experience.Laser scanning experience.Generative and computational design experience.Experience in VDC technology not listed above.Construction experience in the MEPFP trades.
