IonQ is at the forefront of this technological revolution.The salary range for this position is $107-140K.We are looking for an Experimental Physicist with experience in transforming complex atomic physics experiments into practical applications. As a member of the engineering and technology organization, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team of scientists and engineers whose mission is to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems. You’ll be a technical contributor on the team responsible for commissioning and initial demonstration of our next-generation Barium quantum computers in our new Seattle facility.Responsibilities:Build, commission, and test a next-generation Barium trapped ion quantum computer from the ground upClosely collaborate with the optical, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams in the validation of performance of critical sub-systems of a trapped-ion quantum computerDemonstrate the initial ion trapping and gate fidelity measurements in a new quantum computerYou’d be a good fit with:PhD in experimental physics or related field, with deep knowledge of atomic physicsExperience designing, characterizing and operating complex trapped ion or neutral atom systems and experimentsDemonstrated experimental experience with one or more of the following specialities: ultracold atomic physics, ion trapping, laser spectroscopy, or precision metrology1+ years of relevant post-PhD experienceYou’d be a great fit with:Experience working with high NA optics, optical design, or development of complex optical systemsExperience in cryogenicsProficiency in automation of experimental and data acquisition software using modern software toolsEngineering or systems engineering experience in transforming a complex physical system into a product based on detailed technical requirements4+ years of relevant post-PhD experience in industryThis position will be based in Seattle, Washington.The base pay component of the offer will vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
