Programmer Analyst III (Intern)

Hourly Wage: $22.17/Regular/Part-Time
Location: Yakima
Responsible for highly technical system analysis and computer programming work. Oversee ER/WM Management network computer system. Instruct and demonstrate to staff a variety of software applications to meet program needs. Provide operating instruction to staff on word processing applications, database management applications, and spreadsheet applications. Apply hardware and software criteria in work situations to configure appropriate systems. Maintain knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in modern technology and system analysis.
Examples of Work Performed:
Plans, develops, tests, documents, and maintains computer systems and programs.
Evaluates user requests for new or modified programs.
Maintains computer operations to ensure up-to-date operating systems meet program needs.
Determines feasibility, costs, and establishes program tracking for maintaining program computers and server operating systems.
Prepares flowcharts and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps for staff in operating computer systems and program databases.
Maintains organization of network programs and files.
Maintains group and individual security levels to protect privacy on the network.
Instructs and demonstrates to users a variety of updated software applications, database management, and spreadsheet applications to meet program needs.
Recreates steps taken by users to locate the source of problems and rewrites programs to correct errors.
Installs, maintains, operates, and troubleshoots program computer systems and applications.
Assists staff in training, scanning, and database management systems.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of micro-computer configurations: disk operating systems, databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and special applications.
Knowledge of the techniques and methodology of computer system analysis.
Knowledge of computer capabilities, programming techniques, and system analysis.
Knowledge of the principles of workflow charting and the techniques of computer system documentation.
Ability to analyze procedural operations and organize their component parts into a logical system.
Ability to write machine instructions in one or more languages such as BASIC, C, and C++.
Ability to work independently and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
Ability to teach users technical and special aspects of program software use.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
Two years of progressively responsible experience in developing, installing, and maintaining network systems.
Must pass a pre-employment background check.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Preferred Requirements:
Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
