Thompson First Group is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for a direct hire opportunity with a local client in Emporia, VA.Candidates with a background developing, implementing, and coordinating quality management system within a manufacturing environment are encouraged to apply.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as business situations, production capabilities, manufacturing problems, design, and development of new products.Ensures compliance to customer requirements, monitors customer scorecards and work on improving satisfaction levels.Proposes quality objectives/goals/targets to the management team as requested by executive team.Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities.Visits and confers with vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders and vendor quality standards including traveling to offsite locations.Reviews technical and quality publications, articles and abstracts to stay ahead of technical and quality developments in industry.Directly supervises employees in the Quality Department, including Quality Lab and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Maintain ISO Standard Program and accreditation and all environmental and ballistics testing interfacing with third party laboratories.Confirm that plant audit procedures are properly carried out and assigned work schedules are maintained.Determine overall plant product quality by conducting and evaluating various product tests and tests related to manufacturing and packaging.Resolve/identify major quality problems at production facility, areas as required.Educate and instruct plant personnel in recommended quality control testing, equipment. Confirm these procedures are being maintained.Discuss plant evaluation with plant management, make appropriate recommendations and set timetable for improvement and corrections.Function as an information source for customers when critical quality issues arise.QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTSBachelor of Science Degree in related field.10 years of Quality Assurance or related experience.1-3 years of managerial experience.Experience in manufacturing setting is preferred.Familiar with specs for transportation industry and transparent armor including but not limited to ATPD 2352, ANSI Z261, MILSTD 2073, MILSTD130, MILSTD 129, MILSTED 53072.Ability to motivate and influence floor and staff associates in all activities.Must be able to speak, listen, and write proficiently to communicate to all levels of organization.Excellent communication and people skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWork requires some physical strain such as long periods of standing and walking in production facility and lifting of moderately heavy items such as test equipment kits and product cases. Other physical demands include, crouching, and reaching.

Compensation:$75,000-$85,000 per year
