Community Engagement SpecialistThe City of Peoria seeks to hire a Community Engagement Specialist in the Parks & Recreation Department. The purpose of this position is to provide excellent customer service to Jr Ranger, Peoria+, and Rec'n Crew program attendees by exemplifying a positive attitude and providing experiences to residents and guests alike via mascot costumes. This is accomplished by identifying and showcasing mascot characters that represent the various parks and recreation division. Providing non-verbal communication to participants is key in becoming successful in the role. This position assists the Recreation Coordinator, Recreation Programmer, and Engagement Specialist positions in executing planned events, programs, or activities.Essential Functions:Assists with the execution of an activity, event, or program with minimal direction. Exercises the necessary caution being in character as a mascot to meet the need of the activity, event, or program.Communicates to the assigned supervisor regarding incidents, decisions, and issues pertaining to activities, events, or programs. Responsible for communicating any challenges faced during usage of mascot costumes or other materials.Assists with the distribution, care, and use of supplies and/or equipment for assigned programs.Maintains awareness of new developments in the field and offers suggestions to the Recreation Coordinator.Attend meetings as assigned. Assist with other recreation programs, as requested.Some positions may require the performance of additional position accountabilities and/or related duties.
