Senior Retirement Benefits Analyst

Responsibilities:
Defined Contribution Retirement Plan Administration
Oversees the administration of the company-sponsored retirement plans, e.g., 403(b), 457(b) and 457(f)
Prepares data for non-discrimination testing and calculation of annual employer contributions.
Conducts regular audits between Payroll system and recordkeeper to ensure that employee deferrals are processed timely and accurately.
Monitors forfeitures and applies funds to the employer contribution.
Monitors employee distributions to ensure accuracy.
Coordinates the Benefits teams assistance in the annual retirement audit process to include overseeing project across affiliates with auditors, ensuring timely submission of requested reports, plan data, filings and facilitating submission of sample requests to the auditors.
Responsible for post audit management action planning to address any issues found during the audit.
Completes annual analysis on any employer contributions or matches where applicable.
Reviews hardship withdrawals and loan requests.
Works closely with benefits manager and consultants on all plan changes including the redesign and merging of the current set of plans across the organization.
Provides support for the record keeper search in gathering necessary requested data and reviewing proposals to align with requirements for appropriate plan administration.
May assist in the timely completion of final Pension Audit and 5500 filings.
Compliance
Ensures compliance of benefits practices with various laws and regulatory requirements, including ERISA, DOL, IRS, etc.
Ensures meeting government reporting requirements for benefit programs – to include 5500 reports, SARs, SPDs and plan documents.
Annually prepares and distributes legally required notices, including SARs.
Communications
Aids Benefits Manager in executing a communication strategy for the organization’s retirement plans and programs to ensure promotion and understanding of benefit and wellbeing offerings to employees.
Manages the information shared on record keeper websites to ensure accuracy and consistency of all messaging, collateral materials, policies, programs, and plan summaries.
Health and Welfare Benefit Administration
Works in tandem with the Sr. Health and Welfare Benefit Analyst to support the renewal process by providing necessary data as requested.
Assists in resolving data integrity issues through auditing health and welfare enrollments and deductions.
Provides additional support on the Health and Welfare benefits as needed.
Supports HR wide initiatives and events.
Requires:
Work requires knowledge of retirement plan administration, including flexible benefits administration; pertinent federal and state laws; ERISA regulations, and knowledge of retirement plan principles and practices; strong verbal and written communication skills; and experience with database administration and reporting – acquired through:
Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, finance, business administration, or related field plus four to five years of retirement plan administration experience of plans with at least $100 million in plan assets, or
Associate degree in human resource management or related field and six to seven years of retirement plan administration experience of plans with at least $100 million in plan assets.
CEBS Certification or Plan Sponsor documented training preferred.
Work requires analytical ability sufficient to anticipate or resolve problems and complications in retirement program administration and extract and analyze data from written material.
Work requires the ability to balance priorities, meet tight deadlines, work at a computer, and follow up on details required to effectively administer programs, all of which very frequently produce a high level of mental/visual fatigue and mental stress.
Prior work experience and proficiency/expertise with Microsoft products. Thorough understanding of all areas of information systems with a highly technical understanding of at least one contemporary commercial HRIS product and online retirement recordkeeping system.
