PATIENT FLOW/SHIFT COORDINATOR PRN DAYS

Job Overview:
This position is responsible for system-wide patient access to TriHealth's inpatient services by planning, coordinating, and managing requests for bed assignment and patient placement. In accordance with clinical standards and guidelines, this position has the authority to determine appropriate patient placement through effective communication with physicians, all levels of nursing, and support personnel. This position understands the financial impact of decisions regarding patient access and resource utilization, and uses this knowledge in decisions regarding patient capacity. Also maintains policies and procedures related to capacity issues. Collaborates with executive leadership on patient throughput, capacity management, and effective bed utuilization.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
May be actively completing BSN with RN-to-BSN contract in place
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
Registered Nurse
Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Experience with computer usage
Data gathering
Analysis, and statistical application
Organized with ability to implement projects
Problem-solve creatively and accurately assess situations
Membership in applicable professional organization preferred
1-2 years experience Clinical Nursing acute care hospital clinical nursingACLS, NRP, PALS within 6 months of hire
Job Responsibilities:
Utilizes critical thinking to make appropriate patient placement decisions taking into consideration patient diagnosis, prognosis, physician service, infectitious disease status, staffing, acuity, and applicable policies.
Utilizes interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple care partners across the system including unit leadership, executive leadership, physicians, infection prevention personnel, and environmental services to effectively maintain an efficient patient throughput.
Consistently demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Serves as a role model in the utilization of TriHealth Way behaviors during internal and external customer interactions.
Maintains and/or enhances current knowledge through active participation in continuing education activities, participation in professional organization activities, specialty certification, and/or advanced degrees. Routinely engages in self-assessment of role accountabilities, identifying areas of strength as well as areas for continual improvement.
Demonstrates leadership through performance and behavior. Maintains composure in difficult situations and remains prepared to deal with rapidly changing situations. Serves as an entry-point ambassador to TriHealth inpatient services and serves as a mentor to staff.
In the rare event of a disaster, temporarily functions as administrator until one can arrive on-site.
