Job Summary
The Senior Research Scientist at CliMA leads the development of numerical tools and software for atmosphere and climate modeling.
Essential Job Duties
Develop computational fluid dynamics concepts and software underpinning CliMA's climate model.
Lead the implementation and testing of atmosphere model components with software engineers and other research scientists.
Develop designs and strategies for implementing new features in CliMA's climate model.
Lead cross-functional teams of scientists and software engineers in the development of new algorithms in CliMA's climate model.
Carry out independent scientific research leading to publications and contribute to reports and proposals.
Mentor junior scientists and interns contributing to CliMA.
Basic Qualifications
PhD in the climate sciences or an adjacent science or engineering discipline.
Evidence of original scholarly research in the form of peer-reviewed publications.
Experience contributing to and leading components of cross-disciplinary scientific projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience mentoring students and junior scientists.
Experience programming in at least two programming languages and contributing to distributed scientific software development projects.
