Mainframe JD
Key Responsibilities
Mainframe Application Development :
Design, develop, and maintain mainframeapplications using COBOL in a z/OS environment.Write and optimize JCL (Job Control Language) to execute batch jobs and manage job scheduling and dependencies.
Database Management and Development :
Develop and maintain DB2 database objects including tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures.Write and optimize SQL queries for data retrieval, updates, and analysis.
Data Analysis :
Utilize SQL for data analysis to generate reports, extract data insights, and support decision-making processes.Perform data validation and ensure data integrity across mainframe systems.
Job and Batch Processing :
Monitor and troubleshoot batch jobs to ensure timely and accurate processing.Debug and resolve issues related to job failures, performance bottlenecks, and data discrepancies.
System Maintenance and Optimization :
Conduct performance tuning and optimization of COBOL programs, JCL scripts, and DB2 queries.Implement and manage mainframe system updates, patches, and upgrades.
Documentation and Reporting :
Create and maintain technical documentation for mainframe applications, job flows, and database schemas.Provide regular status updates and reports on development progress, job performance, and data analysis.
Collaboration and Support :
Work closely with other developers, system administrators, and business analysts to understand requirements and deliver solutions.Provide support for production issues and participate in on-call rotations as required.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.Experience :3+ years of experience working with Mainframe z/OS environments, including COBOL, JCL, and DB2.Proven experience in developing, debugging, and optimizing mainframeapplications and batch jobs.Strong experience in SQL for data analysis and reporting.
Skills :
Programming Languages : Proficiency in COBOL for mainframe application development.Job Control : Expertise in JCL for managing batch jobs and job scheduling.Database Skills : Experience with DB2, including database design, SQL query optimization, and performance tuning.Data Analysis : Strong SQL skills for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.Problem-Solving : Excellent troubleshooting skills to resolve issues related to job execution, performance, and data integrity.Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills to document work and collaborate with team members.
