Description:The Lead Environmental Services Technician, under the direction and supervision of the Housekeeping Manager, supports the housekeeping staff by performing routine and non-routine tasks such as trash removal, washing windows, and stripping and waxing floors.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSOversees work of Environmental Services Technicians to include assigning tasks and training/orienting new team membersPerforms inspections of equipment and work completed by technicians (work orders, etc)Removes trash from main collection points and hauls it to the dumpsters; tears down cardboard boxes for disposalAssists housekeeping staff with vacuuming and washing floors, and cleaning public rest roomsMakes repairs to vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, floor strippers and other housekeeping and floor cleaning equipment; advises Housekeeping Manager of repairs that require attention from Facilities ManagementAssists housekeeping staff with moving furniture or cleaning out vacated units; assists Facilities team with various tasks as neededSupports the preventative maintenance cleaning programs with cleaning of carpets, stripping and waxing floors; cleans nursing area carpeting immediately if soiled with bodily fluids in both resident rooms and public spacesCleans trash rooms and utility rooms; cleans sinks and counter tops; wet mops floors; completes side duties according to check sheetsCleans and maintains equipment avoiding misuse; reports damaged or unsafe equipment to the Housekeeping ManagerResearches and recommends cleaning supplies and replacement parts for vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, floor strippers and other housekeeping/ floor cleaning equipment to the Housekeeping Manager for ordering.Performs all work in a safe manner, reporting safety hazards to the Manager or Director immediately; uses and stores all cleaning chemicals properly; displays wet floor signs at all times when wet mopping and removes wet floor signs after floor has driedIs knowledgeable of emergency procedures and reports emergencies to Security as necessaryMaintains positive interaction with residents, guests, and other employeesComplies with all Williamsburg Landing policies and procedures including those addressing attendance, standards of conduct, dress, safety, and personal hygieneKeeps uniform clean and neat; maintains infection control standards including proper hand washing, and use of hair nets and glovesPerforms other duties as assignedPosition is required to perform tasks in a pet friendly environment
QUALIFICATIONSAbility to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Prior work experience in a similar environmental services role and environment is required;
Experience related to maintenance and repair of housekeeping equipment is required. Prior leadership experience in a housekeeping/environmental services environment is preferred. Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to be pleasant, tactful, and courteous with residents; willingness to perform repetitive daily tasks; ability to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds; ability to climb steps ladders and reach overhead; ability to stoop, kneel, lean over, and climb stairs frequently throughout the work day; must possess exhibited initiative and good judgment; ability to use floor scrubbing, stripping and waxing equipment as well as carpet extracting equipment and supplies in a safe manner
