The Organization

Operation Samahan (OpSam Health) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves the San Diego County community. It was founded in 1973 in a barber shop in Downtown San Diego by Filipino health professionals offering services to immigrants who did not have the finances, linguistic skills, or ability to navigate the health care system. Today, Operation Samahan has evolved into a diverse community health center with services available in National City, Mira Mesa, City Heights, and Rancho Penasquitos. We provide primary care, dental, behavioral health, family planning, integrative health and wellness, healthy eating, civic engagement, and other health-related services to the uninsured, underinsured, and underserved families of all income levels, regardless of their ability to pay.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide compassionate and culturally sensitive psychiatric care as a Nurse Practitioner at OpSam Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the diverse communities of San Diego County. Collaborating within an interdisciplinary team, the aim is to address the mental health needs of underserved populations, ensuring access to high-quality psychiatric services regardless of financial resources or background, thereby promoting holistic well-being and equitable healthcare outcomes.

Job Description

Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to assess patients' mental health status.Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, as appropriate, in accordance with state regulations.Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding treatment options, medications, and coping strategies.Work collaboratively with therapists and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and integrated care.Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers.Stay current with advancements in psychiatric medicine, attending relevant conferences, and pursuing continuing education opportunities.Document and complete patient progress notes in the electronic medical record.Quality Management

Contributes to the organization's success by participating in quality improvement activities. Take part in peer audits. Attends appropriate QA meetings and training. Performs job duties within the scope of practice and in accordance with best practices, legally and ethically.Privacy Policy and HIPAA Compliance

Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful behavior or activity.QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Unrestricted License with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification (PMHNP-BC) in the State of California is required.Master's degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited educational institution is required.Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP) certification is required.Active DEA License is required.Bilingual in Spanish/Tagalog preferredMinimum of two (2) years' experience preferred.

SALARY RANGE: $70-$100 based on experience.
