The Customs Brokerage Supervisor, oversees the import and CHB processes and ensures compliance with US laws and regulations, as well as JAS Forwarding operations procedures. This position is responsible for completion of all import and CHB transactions in an accurate and timely manner. This role will be reporting into the Customs Brokerage Department Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

As Licensed Customs Broker and Permit Holder, the CHB supervisor is responsible for compliance, training, recordkeeping, and supervision of all CHB and import personnel.Responsible for all transactions and interactions with US CBP, ISF, CFS and all other government agencies on the local level (local port requirements as well as state requirements) and on the National Level, which includes RLF and out-port entries.Educate as well as train the staff. Recognize the individual's weaknesses or problem areas and assist them in strengthening themselves in these areas.Assist and when necessary educate the customer in the efforts to make sure they are in compliance with US CBP and all other Government Agencies.Provide guidance to customers with general import concerns, including Classification, Valuation, Preferential Trade Programs, and Post Entry work.Ensure the subordinates are organized, productive, and compliant with all government and Company requirements.Supervise closely ISF filings to ensure 100% compliance.Ensure all duty payments, duty statements, ACH statements and PMS statements are paid timely with all Company outlays following the corporate guidelines for duty advancements.Be the subject matter expert (SME) for the Entry Processing sector, ensuring team successfully complies with JAS customer care standardsPartner with the local central dispatching team to oversee the day-to-day freight movement and ensure the workflow is adequately managed, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and handling any escalated issues from your team.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will directly and/or indirectly supervise one or more employees.

Train, supervise and advise entry writers and import personnel of JAS USA in the entry, importation, storage and transportation of goods in U.S.Manage, direct, and evaluate the work of employees.Responsible for annual employment reviews.Maintain up to date knowledge, including any needed continuing education of the regulations and procedures of the USCS for the classification and entry of the goods along with other government agencies.QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of customs laws, practices and procedures.Excellent organizational skills.Excellent written and verbal skills.Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Cargo Wise platform AS400 platform brokerage.Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently.Able to perform the essential duties of this position without posing a "direct threat" to the health or safety of self or others.Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and government officials.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Licensed Customer Broker (LCB) or Customs Certified Specialist (CCS) is preferredFive years' experience in the logistics or forwarding industryA minimum of 3+ years working in a supervisory roleA minimum of 4+ years' experience working in customs brokerage and understanding customs regulationsExtra languages are a plus.Bachelor degree preferred but not required.

ENVIRONMENT:

100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Travel will be (up to__ %) required in support of the position's responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds. This position requires employee to frequently work in a fluid, fast paced environment.
