Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care provided to critically ill patients. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the functional and developmental age of patients, ensuring that care is tailored to their unique needs. The ICU RN works collaboratively within the nursing team to deliver high-quality care, maintain patient safety, and support families during challenging times.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in the ICU.
Monitor and manage critically ill patients, using advanced technology and equipment.
Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members regarding patient status and care plans.
Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, and care processes.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control practices.
Requirements:
One year of recent experience in an ICU setting preferred.
Current Louisiana RN License.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English is required, and bilingual (English/Spanish; English/French) is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
Work Schedule:
6:45 p.m. - 7:15 a.m.
