The main role is to assist radiologists with the process of imaging, and not that of diagnosis as this is the key role of a physician. X-ray tech job description involves taking pictures of the body while utilizing various imaging methods. They are responsible for ensuring the patient’s safety during the procedure. Technicians may be required to explain the procedure in layman terms to ensure a patient’s comfort. Most importantly, the ability to produce a high-quality image consistently is crucial as this will help physicians to correctly provide diagnosis. The center is open Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and on weekends 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.This position will work 4 days per week and 1 weekend per month.

Primary Responsibilities:Will perform the following duties and responsibilities, which may include, but are not limited to:This position requires you to work between the x-ray and CT departmentAlways ask for at least two forms of identification, (name, DOB)Instructing the patients to undergo the appropriate positions to get accurate imagesKeeping radiographic equipment in quality working orderObtaining images for any areas requested by the physician or radiologistUsing radiation on the patient if necessaryKeeping track of patient recordsAssisting radiologists and physicians in the process of understanding and evaluating the imagesPreventing exposure from certain areas of the patient’s body so they do not expose to radiationPatient communication and preparation including removal of garments or jewelry that may interfere with procedure and explaining how the process worksPositioning patients properly to obtain x-raysSetting the equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imagedApplying their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process to help the physician diagnose problemsMust be able to closely follow physician instructions, prepare radiography equipment, position patients, and obtain optimal images for diagnosisMust be able to communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing, and handicappedApply HIPPA to every patientPutting reports in the patient chart after the Radiologist has read the images, and the report is dictatedCheck each patient’s order before scanning the patient, if there are any questions with the order, make sure to ask the ordering physician
