Aerotek is seeking a 1st shift dedicated Machine Assembler for our South Bend, IN location. The candidate will be responsible for fastening joints and seams in sheet metal using fasteners and drivers, ensuring the work meets quality specifications and safety guidelines. This role involves working on ladders and being exposed to heights. A background in construction is highly beneficial, and experience in a team environment is a plus.
Responsibilities
Screw sheet metal panels together
Install insulation
Use power tools such as drills, grinders, and plasma cutting equipment
Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material
Utilize calculators and tape measures
Fasten seams and joints together with bolts, rivets, caulks, and metal drive clips to assemble components into products
Drill holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets
Assemble and fit pre-fabricated parts to form subassemblies
Maintain cleanliness of the work area
Essential Skills
Previous mechanical assembly experience
Proficiency in using power tools such as drills, grinders, plasma cutting equipment, impacts, and saws
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Experience in sheet metal fabrication
Familiarity with tape measures, levels, and squares
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous fab shop experience
Experience in a team environment
Background in construction

Work Environment
The work environment is a fabrication shop that manufactures large control panels for commercial buildings. It is a darker, dirty, and loud environment. The standard work hours are from 5 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime on Fridays and Saturdays.
