Job Description:
Director of Revenue
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606).
- Provide technical accounting expertise on the proper treatment of revenue arrangements and related financial reporting and disclosures requirements.
- Produce technical memos to support the Company's position
- Lead the revenue accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely recording of revenue transactions.
- Manage the monthly revenue close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations of revenue, deferred revenue and other accounts associated with revenue streams
- Review complex revenue contracts to assess appropriate revenue recognition treatment and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, legal, and FP&A, to resolve revenue recognition issues and ensure alignment on contract terms and conditions.
- Conduct periodic reviews and assessments of revenue recognition processes and controls, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness with "SOX-like" quality.
- Stay abreast of updates to accounting standards and regulations related to revenue recognition, assessing the impact on the company's accounting policies and practices.
- Prepare and review financial statements and disclosures related to revenue recognition, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies during financial statement audits and reviews, providing support and documentation as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
- 10 years of experience in revenue accounting or related roles, with a strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606).
- Big four accounting experience preferred.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in both public accounting and industry revenue accounting experience.
- Experience in a leadership or managerial role, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team.
- Thorough knowledge of financial reporting processes and controls, with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex contracts and transactions and apply accounting principles appropriately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with Netsuite or other large ERP required, (Netsuite ARM and Salesforce is a plus)
- Intermediate/advanced Excel skills (e.g. complex formula & vlookups experience) and ability to work with large volumes of transactional data Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively in order to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and at various levels within a company.
Hiring Range:
The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
