The Azure Cloud Engineer/Platform Reliability Engineer or Azure Cloud Engineer Senior/Platform Reliability Engineer Senior is a member of the Core Platforms Department and responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our Information Technology infrastructure. The Engineer is primarily focused on supporting the core Azure cloud infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, identity, and application support for TRS. Duties will include assisting with design, deployment, automation, and maintenance of the environment along with other related support activities. This position will work closely with IT staff and agency employees. This is a Hybrid position and requires 2 days of onsite work a week conducted at our TRS office in Austin TX This vacancy will be filled at one of two levels - Platform Reliability Engineer OR Platform Reliability Engineer Senior Selected applicant will be offered the position that most closely matches their education and experience. Salary Range Platform Reliability Engineer: $100,000.00 - $111,607.00 Platform Reliability Engineer Senior: $102,891 - $135,043 WHAT WILL YOU DO: Key Accountabilities(Platform Reliability Engineer) Core Platform Engineering Contributes to data protection and disaster recovery strategies. Develops and automates processes and integrations across multiple technologies using Infrastructure-as-code, primarily using PowerShell. Collaborates closely with cross functional teams to design, implement, maintain, and monitor IT infrastructure. Provides infrastructure design and support focusing in areas such as Microsoft Azure, VMware, Red Hat OpenShift, Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Cisco MDS, NetApp, and Pure storage. Implements and manages source control, continuous integration and delivery, and configuration management processes and tools. System Support & Maintenance Analyzes and diagnoses infrastructure problems. Assesses future information technology requirements and assist in developing long-range, comprehensive infrastructure planning and roadmaps. Assists with installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of core platform infrastructure. Collaborates with cross-functional IT teams and agency staff to establish and sustain scalable, reliable, and high-performing systems, ensure infrastructure security, and consult with teams to identify necessary tasks for supporting project initiatives. Monitors applications and systems to ensure compliance with licensing agreements and system availability. Participates actively in planning, organizing, coordinating, and contributing to special projects. Research developments in the platform reliability engineering field including emerging technologies and trends, and then recommends processes and tools to help continuously improve processes and procedures to deliver business value. May be required to be available for on-call duty or scheduled for after-hours work. Performs related work as assigned. WHAT WILL YOU BRING Required Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, computer science, IT or a closely related field. High school diploma or equivalent and additional full-time work experience in information systems, computer operations, programming, database development, or a similarly related technical experience may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis. Required Experience Three (3) - Five (5) years of full-time experience in platform engineering experience or a similarly related experience. One (1) - Three (3) year of full-time experience administering a Microsoft Windows server environment or similarly related experience. Proven ability to develop, maintain, and use automated processes and tools to provide reliable IT infrastructure. Experience may be concurrent. A master's degree or doctoral degree in a directly related field may be substituted on an equivalent year- for-year basis. Required Registration, Certification, or Licensur e None Preferred Qualifications Experience in Microsoft Azure Entra ID, Virtual Machines, Subscriptions, Virtual Networks, Private Endpoint/Private Link, ADLS Storage, Key Vault, RBAC, Policy, Defender, and infrastructure design and support. Experience in Windows and Red Hat infrastructure design and support. Experience with one or more of the following technologies: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, DFS, PKI, PowerShell, Terraform, and SolarWinds Monitoring suite. Experience creating automation and utilizing GitHub. Experience with Agile, ITIL methodologies and best practices. Experience collaborating with business, development, and operational teams to support Agile project delivery. Possession of one or more of the following certifications: Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure including infrastructure-as-code. Containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and container orchestration. VMware vSphere and Horizon Virtualization Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as PowerShell, Terraform, or Python. Solid understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and system monitoring tools. Enterprise storage block and file services. Skills in: Analyzing complex problems and developing workable solutions. Communicating complex technical information to people of all levels of technical knowledge. Planning, organizing, and coordinating work to effectively meet frequent and/or multiple deadlines; handling multiple tasks simultaneously; and managing conflicting priorities and demands. Ability to: Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, agency staff, and external contacts.
