This Opportunity

FPA is currently searching for a full-time Senior Project Manager - Solid Waste at our Headquarters in Wall Township, NJ. (It may be possible to work in one of our other Regional Offices in Newark, NJ or Camden, NJ).

As a member of FPA's Solid Waste Department, the Senior Project Manager, will take the lead in crafting the success stories of our solid waste management projects. This role isn't just about project management; it's about making a meaningful impact. You'll oversee projects that encompass solid waste, landfill management, landfill gas collection system optimization and environmental regulatory compliance, ensuring we meet and exceed the industry standards for sustainability and compliance. This position reports directly to the Director of Infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of solid waste management projects.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations.

Client Management:
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships by proactive client engagement and responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions.

Team Management:
  • Supervise and mentor project teams, ensuring that work is carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive working environment across disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise on solid waste management and environmental compliance challenges.
  • Review and approve technical reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and local solid waste regulations.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project quality.
  • Participate in proposal and business development activities to secure new projects and clients.
  • Participation in the 40hr HAZWOPER Training & Medical Monitoring Program and Supervisor Course.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited four-year college or university.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (NJ, NY and/or PA) or ability to acquire PE through reciprocity.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in solid waste management and environmental engineering.
  • Proven experience in project management and team leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of solid waste regulations and compliance requirements in NJ as well as the mid-Atlantic Region
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software and experience using MS Office 365, computer aided design tools and software including AutoDesk's AutoCAD and Esri's ArcGIS.

Optional Qualifications:
  • Master of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental, or a related field, from an ABET accredited college of university.
  • Membership and active participation in professional societies and associations in the solid waste and/or environmental fields.
