The Team:

The Senior Claims Examiner adjudicates assigned claims within given authority. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Resolves moderate to complex claims that includes all phases of litigation
- Documents claim files per Best Practices
- With minimal supervision, drafts coverage letters, including reservation of rights and denial letters
- Timely sets reserves
- Provides exceptional customer service
- Identifies emerging exposures and claims trends
- Drives litigation to manage deployment and utilization of defense counsel
- Identifies suspected fraudulent claims and refers to special investigations unit
- Participates in Claims Projects as needed
- Participate in reserving roundtables and pre-trial roundtables
Requirements:
- 6+ years of claims handling experience.
- A JD from an ABA accredited law school and litigation practice may be considered as a supplement to claims handling experience
- Advanced knowledge of claims analysis In depth knowledge of standards for claims documentation and legal filings
- Proven ability to actively and effectively negotiate settlement of moderate to complex claims
- Experience in mentoring and training other claim professionals
- Advanced analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Active insurance adjuster's license B.A./B.S degree from an accredited College or University preferred
Additional Factors Considered
- Subject matter expertise Mediation, arbitration or trial attendance Demonstrated take charge attitude and ability to work with minimal oversight within their authority levels
- Identifies and suggests improvements to processes within the claim department and raises with manager
- Demonstrated steps taken toward additional certifications by an approved authority such as a CPCU, ARMS or AINS designation
