Human Resources Generalist

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking an HR Generalist to join our team and provide support in our growing facilities! This position is responsible for resolving employee relation concerns, developing and implementing employee retention programs, implementing employee development programs, and appreciation programs. This individual will serve as a consultant to management and act as a change agent for human resource related issues.

This position works Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to Noon. This position occasionally requires long hours and occasional weekend work as job duties demand. Occasional day travel to our facilities throughout Kansas may be required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide a balanced perspective in employee relation concerns which is consistent with company policy, how similar situations have been handled previously, and what is fair to the employee and company in each situation.
  • Administer company attendance policy.
  • Assess and anticipate HR-related needs within the plant and company departments, and seek to develop solutions.
  • Facilitate Stay Interviews, Exit Interviews and provide quarterly feedback to plant managers.
  • Support implementation of the Mentoring Program.
  • Create partnerships across HR to deliver value-added services to managers and employees which reflect the business objectives of the company.
  • Maintain an effective level of business literacy about the company's strategic plans and culture.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, management, business or a related degree
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in HR resolving complex employee relations issues
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with all levels of personnel across multiple facilities
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational development, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws
Travel Requirements:
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area travel may be required on occasion.
