As Civil Engineering Design Technician, you will support land development and infrastructure projects nationwide, prepare engineering drawings, collaborate with project teams, and ensure regulatory compliance.
What you'll get to do:
- Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans and specifications for various civil engineering projects, including site development, transportation and utilities.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) to create detailed drawings and models based on project requirements and standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to develop design concepts, layouts and construction details that meet project objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Gather surveys, topographic data, utility locations, local jurisdictional requirements and codes as well as zoning requirements and other relevant information for project planning and design.
- Analyze survey data and aerial imagery to assess site conditions, identify constraints, and develop design solutions that optimize land use and infrastructure layout.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, calculations and design memoranda to support project planning, permitting and regulatory compliance.
- Review and interpret engineering plans, specifications and standards to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with project requirements.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation, including drawings, correspondence, and design revisions to facilitate efficient project management and communication.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary approvals and permits for project implementation.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors and suppliers, to clarify design requirements, address inquiries and resolve technical issues.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews and construction site visits as needed to support project progress and ensure quality control.
- Associate degree or diploma in civil engineering technology or related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in the civil engineering field, preferably in the land development sector.
- Proficient in using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex and large-scale projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principals, practices, and standards, including site grading, drainage and utility design.
- Detail-oriented approach to work, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
