About the Opportunity: An acute care hospital in Valhalla, NY is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist to join their team. The PT will preferably have previous acute care and inpatient experience, working in a fast paced setting with an interdisciplinary team. The schedule will primarily be Monday through Friday with a 35 hour work week but will include some rotating weekends and holidays as needed. The physical therapist will have a variety of responsibilities including evaluations, treatment and collaborating with other healthcare staff. We are looking for someone who is motivated and passionate about working with the adult population and would be available to start immediately. This is a very patient centered hospital with high quality care. There will be other therapists on staff to collaborate with in the rehab department. Responsibilities:
-Performs physical therapy evaluations and treatment procedures upon physician's referral.
-Develops plans of treatment, modifies treatment plans /programs as necessary; determines rehabilitation potential and participates in discharge planning.
-Carries out regular assessment/re-evaluations and modifies program goals as needed.
-Notes possible need for patients to receive other services (OT, ST, SS, etc.). Discusses possibility with other professionals, physicians.
-Knows and utilizes varied treatment techniques and skills for various problems / disabilities.
-Keeps up-to-date records of each patient's treatment and progress, performing timely re-evaluation as necessary and indicated.
-Instructs patients in the use and care of equipment and apparatus, such as wheelchair, braces, canes, crutches, walkers, prosthetic and orthtics services.
-Directs and supervises the activities of Physical Medicine Technicians, students, and volunteers.
-Maintains department equipment; reports defects or problems immediately to supervisor staff.
-Consults with other health care providers (i.e. occupational therapy, speech therapy, etc.) to coordinate therapeutic programs and maintains communication with physicians regarding the patient's progress and response to treatment.
-Instructs patient/families about continuing home program care prior to discharge.
