Job Summary
The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for planning, overseeing, and leading cloud-related projects from ideation through to completion, working within a hybrid role based in Austin, TX (two days per week onsite). The ideal candidate has a strong background in project management within cloud environments, experience with infrastructure and software migrations, and exceptional organizational and communication skills. This role requires managing project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful migration of workloads from on-premise data centers to public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or third-party co-location data centers.
Key Responsibilities
• Define project objectives, goals, and expected outcomes.
• Develop timelines, cost estimates, and resource requirements; perform ROI analysis and build business cases.
• Generate detailed plans and schedules for each stage of the project lifecycle.
• Provide direction, coaching, and leadership to project team members.
• Select supporting staff and lead a project team, negotiating with contractors and suppliers as needed.
• Ensure project stages progress on time, within budget, and according to company processes and quality standards.
• Develop and implement processes to improve project management activities, keeping documentation organized and identifying process improvements.
• Report project progress to senior management and stakeholders, covering financial performance, resource usage, and milestones.
• Ensure project compliance with internal/external standards and audit readiness.
• Identify and manage project risks, issues, and conflicts within the team to ensure goals are achieved.
• Proactively track project scope changes, manage crises, and implement contingency plans.
• Manage procurements and coordinate project execution with global teams.
Required Qualifications
• 15+ years of experience, with at least 5 years in project management.
• Strong background in infrastructure/software project management, preferably with cloud experience.
• Proficiency in project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, ServiceNow).
• Solid understanding of financial concepts (Capex, Opex, ROI, Amortization, Depreciation) with budget tracking experience.
• Ability to create essential project documentation, including Project Charter, Success Criteria, Requirements, Project Plan, Risk Register, Change Log, and Communication Plan.
• Conceptual understanding of cloud services (VM/EC2, Storage, Databases, DevSecOps tools, Containers, CDN, IoT, Networking, Security, Disaster Recovery).
Certifications

• Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification
• Agile Certified Practitioner or Certified Scrum Master
