Position Summary:
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for categories or assignments requiring application of basic sourcing, purchasing and contracting principles, theories and concepts. The Specialist will participate in some aspects of supplier selection and other sourcing decisions for indirect materials and services as assigned, ensuring product quality, delivery, and cost.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist Strategic Sourcing Management with the implementation of new sourcing programs and developing data and other required information for supplier discussions
Track and monitor implementation of new sourcing programs and take actions as required to ensure their successful implementation
Execute transactional types of purchasing with Suppliers as needed. Including issuing and managing purchase orders in automated systems. Understand how to monitor and expedite purchase transactions as needed.
Coordinate e-sourcing events for assigned categories and administer other sourcing related information in e-souring tools
Provide data, analysis and market trend information for decision support.
Effectively communicate and efficiently resolve issues with suppliers. Confers with suppliers to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
Ensures that all contract administration procedures are followed and executed in a professional manner.
Work collaboratively and proactively to identify process, sourcing, and contract improvement opportunities.
Ensure compliance with sourcing policies and procedures, ethical practices, and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
Challenges:
Operating from a center-led function will be a wide-scale cultural, operational and process change in a distributed operating model.
Building effective relationships, sometimes from a distance, with key internal and external influencers.
If coming from outside the industry or company, learning the Life Safety Industry and ADT’s business and how it operates (e.g. distributed delivery model) will require a formidable learning curve.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor degree in business, materials/logistics management, or a technical field
Experience:
Experience with ERP applications such as Oracle a significant plus
Minimum 3-5 years experience with sourcing, materials management or relevant technical/analytical discipline
Ideally can demonstrate a successful track record in similar operating environments (center-led, matrixed, complex).
Experience with Ariba e-sourcing purchasing tools a plus
