Summary:
Responsible for coordinating, implementing, evaluating, and documenting orientation of new nursing department staff, ongoing educational programs for nursing personnel and evaluating evidence-based nursing practice. Revises program materials as needed to uphold best practice and accreditation standards. Influences the character of the professional nurse through role competence, professional growth, and facilitating lifelong learning activities in a variety of settings. Upholds the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Practice. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Current State of Ohio RN license Master’s Degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or other Education-related field or obtains within 3 years of hire. Three years clinical experience in applicable nursing setting. Certification in clinical specialty or obtains within 1 year of hire. Current valid Healthcare Provider BLS through the American Heart Association, and other specialty certifications as required by the unit/department specialty according to patient care policies (i.e. ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP, etc) Demonstrates strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication, delegation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite Experience in adult education and curriculum development. Certification in Nursing Professional Development strongly preferred or obtained within 3 years of hire.
Physical Demands: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. Finger dexterity to operate PC keyboard. Ability to see computer monitor and job-related documents. Ability to hear normal voice sounds.
