Maintains medication safety.2. Communicates patient information.3. Documents accurately throughout the peri-operative phase.4. Performs scrub and circulating duties.5. Collaborates with the other team members of the health care team.6. Functions as clinical preceptor.7. Maintains dress code. 8. Follows department of nursing and hospital policy and procedures.9. Complies with Operating Rooms and policy and procedures.10. Adheres to safety policies.11. Participates in continuing education.12. Observes confidentiality.13. Provides patient and family education.14. Plans and administers patient care.15. Maintains Unit 16. Maintains equipment17. Assumes charge duties in the absence of Head nurse18. Delegate responsibility as necessary 19. Ensure room is cleaned, restocked and maintained as per recommended AORN standards.20. Assist anesthesia during induction.21. Assist with emergencies22. Monitor patient while on the OR table, and during transfers using safe techniques.23. Handles and cares for surgical instruments using recommended techniques.24. Maintain appropriate cares for surgical instruments using recommended techniques.25. Maintain appropriate care, labeling and handling of surgical specimens.26. Utilize proper sterile and aseptic technique.27. Participates in performance improvement activities.28. Recover Post operative patients when necessary in PACU29. Required to pull, push, lift over 10 lbsMinimum Qualifications1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and2. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).Special Note:For assignments in Post-Acute Care ONLY, individuals meeting the following criteria may also be considered for appointment: Graduation from a nursing education program registered by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as licensure qualifying for Registered Professional Nurse (RN) and has applied for licensure as an RN. These unlicensed individuals may be employed to practice under the immediate and personal supervision of a NYS licensed, currently registered, RN for up to 90 days immediately following graduation pending receipt of a limited permit, which selected candidates must apply for and receive within the same 90-day period. Once a limited permit is received, individuals can practice nursing, under the immediate and personal supervision of a NYS licensed, currently registered, RN at a NYC Health + Hospitals health care setting for up to one (1) year from the date of issuance of the limited permit.
