About the Company and Overview of the Accounting Operations Manager role:
- CFS is partnering with a repeat non profit client to find a Accounting Operations Manager to join their medium sized accounting team
- The Accounting Operations Manager position begins on a contractual basis and will become permanent for the right candidate
- Schedule: Flexible start time between 7am-9am. Work an 8 hour schedule, 40 hours per week!
- Position is 40% in office in Linthicum, MD. Hybrid work schedule- 3 days work from home (M, Th, F), 2 days in office (Tuesday and Wednesday)
- Reports directly to the CFO
- Oversee three accounting staff, processes, and systems for corporate accounts payable and cash disbursements to ensure efficiency and accuracy, and compliance with corporate policies/procedures and GAAP.
- Review and approve all corporate credit card transactions and manage processes and systems to ensure efficiency, accuracy and compliance with corporate policies/procedures and GAAP.
- Monitor cash account balances through online banking and recommend intercompany payments to the Finance Director and CFO. Serves as liaison with banking and investment company personnel regarding service agreements and fees.
- Review and post monthly and quarterly journal entries completed by other Finance staff to include accruals, allocations, fixed assets/depreciation, recurring and adjusting journal entries, etc.
- Review monthly/quarterly/annual account reconciliations prepared by others including cash, accounts payable, debt, and other accounts.
- Supervise the preparation of items requested by public accounting firm in order to ensure a successful audit and tax preparation process. Review in-progress audit working papers to ensure the annual financial information is presented in conformity with GAAP. Assist with the preparation of the Federal and State informational returns (990) and unrelated business income tax returns (990T).
- Participate in and provide support for annual budget process.
- Provide finance orientation to new hires. Lead or participate in training of finance and non-finance staff on changes in financial policies, procedures, or systems.
- Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of accounting practices, policies and internal control procedures.
- Perform financial analysis and prepare ad-hoc schedules as requested.
- Provide high level of customer service to internal (within AUA) and external "clients" through respectful, proactive and/or responsive communications and instill same in other Finance colleagues.
- Lead or contribute expertise to special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; MBA or CPA preferred
- 6+ years' experience with non profit accounting or finance
- Experience with month end close, financial statement prep, audits, and automating accounting systems highly preferred
- 5+ years' supervisory experience
- Proficiency with Excel required
- Strong GAAP knowledge
