Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:The Assistant Director of Advising has responsibilities for advisement including assisting students with educational and career goals through individual and group advisement sessions; collaborating with faculty to maximize curricular connections and opportunities for educational advancement; building and sustaining quality relationships with advisees; and facilitating students’ transition into four-year baccalaureate programs and beyond. In addition to maintaining an advisee caseload, the Assistant Director serves as the advising liaison with the Informational Technology team on all technology programs, processes, and updates, and is the lead for advisement functions in the Enterprise Resource Planning system. The Assistant Director also oversees the administration and follow-up for “Care and Concern” reports in the Maxient system and manages all written communications and updates regarding advising on both the internal and external website and in marketing materials.This position is eligible for telework per the Telework Policy.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Provide individual academic advising sessions to degree and non-degree seeking students included on the list of designated advisees.Serve as Technology Lead for all information technology systems used by advising staff.Provide written content on advising for external and internal websites, the College Catalog, and all marketing materials, ensuring that information is current.Serve as the advisor representative on the Graduation committee.Serve as a standing member on the college-wide ADA committee.Monitor and follow up on all “Care and Concern” referrals in Maxient.Serve as the lead for the developmental education placement process and follow up with faculty, students, and the Academic Success Center.Provide follow-up advising sessions with designated advisees to ensure timely registration for each semester.Communicate academic standards and policies to students to assist them proactively throughout their enrollment.Collaborate with representatives from credit faculty and continuing education to maintain a current knowledge base of program requirements and changes.Advance the College’s Completion efforts by assisting students in identifying a clear pathway to graduation, transfer, and subsequent employment.Provide advisee follow-up in response to faculty feedback provided through the Academic Monitoring system.Provide routine coverage in the advising area to assist students in meeting their educational, transfer, and career goals.Participate and support annual programs that serve the advising needs of students, including student orientation, open houses, information nights, college visits, and retention workshops.Access student information using the ERP software and participate in training sessions related to upgrades of the ERP.Maintain advising files on student advisees.Attend advising staff meetings and work on divisional projects as necessary.Represent concerns to the Director of Advising.Supervise part-time work study students and part-time staff hired within the Advising department.OTHER RELATED DUTIES:Participate on internal and external committees as requested.Handle other related duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Education:

Master’s degree required in a related field.Experience:

Five years of experience in progressively responsible professional roles within higher education. Preference will be given to individuals who have worked in a community college setting. Experience working with early college and/or dual enrollment programs is preferred.Skills/Training:

Strong skills in advisement, project management, and statistical analysis are required in addition to knowledge and understanding of dual enrollment and the regulations guiding early enrollment. The ability to coordinate multiple administrative tasks and interpret academic policy and procedures is required.Proficiencies:

Evidence of strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and accuracy skills are a must. Experience working with software applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and an integrated student information system.Scheduling:

Varied work schedule during critical periods sometimes requiring evening, Saturday, and Sunday work hours dependent on the needs of special events. Due to the need for interaction with students, employees, and the college community, this position requires in-person presence. This position is eligible for telework per the Telework Policy.Other Requirements:

Requires the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and handle high volumes of student demands.Physical Demands:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.Work Environment:

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving.Deadline:
