Vice President of Development and External AffairsPPMNJ seeks a dynamic and passionate Director of Major Gifts, who is responsible for managing all qualification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgement, recognition, and stewardship for a portfolio of prospects and donors with affinity for the Planned Parenthood mission and capacity to make $5,000+ investments to Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey. This fundraiser will partner with the CEO, Vice President of Development and External Affairs, PPMNJ Leadership Team and Board of Trustees to develop philanthropic investment opportunities for high net-worth individual donors.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Philanthropy Ambassador will manage a portfolio of approximately 125 major gift prospects. This includes personally soliciting these prospects, as well as designing, implementing, and assessing effective strategies to cultivate and solicit major gift prospects, especially for priority programs and projects. The ideal candidate will come with experience in cultivating and facilitating relationships. They must be unflappable, with excellent people skills, able to develop partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders and possess impeccable discretion. In this role, they will also serve as an effective spokesperson and representative for PPMNJ, join staff committees and various cultivation and stewardship events, as appropriate, work with staff to devise, coordinate, and obtain approval for donor recognition plans and maintain knowledge of relevant clinical reproductive health care, sexuality education, public affairs and fundraising trends – and provide outstanding service to all prospects and donors.Builds and manages a network of relationships with prospective donors. Facilitates and coordinates all communication with these prospects. Promotes positive relations with these prospects and donors.Interacts with internal contacts to consult on PPMNJ needs, to formulate strategies to promote prospect engagement, and to identify potential donors.Assists with the strategy for and creation of persuasive written communications from various PPMNJ leaders appropriate to a donor’s interests.Participates (often in concert with others) in gift solicitations to fund PPMNJ programs and to enhance the development efforts of PPMNJ.Performs additional development-related activities/efforts at the request of their manager.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Portfolio management experience and/or direct donor relationship management experience of at least 3 to 5 years. Experience developing and executing sound donor strategies to secure gifts of at least $5,000+ from existing donors and prospects.3-5 years fundraising experience preferred.Salesforce experience preferred.This skilled fundraiser will have competency creating donor strategies utilizing best practice in donor moves management.A deep commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission and understanding of the Sexual and Reproductive Health ecosystem.Outstanding oral, written, communication, and presentation skills – including the ability to listen and target communication to specific interests of varied audiences.Comfort in online fundraising toolsets and databases including Salesforce and Donor Search.Strong organizational and project management skills – with the ability to manage multiple assignments and quickly changing priorities in a fast-paced setting.Experience qualifying and disqualifying prospects using research and instincts.Proven ability to build deep and lasting relationships with a variety of partners, with whom no direct line supervision exists, as well as external individuals, from donors to board members. Impeccable discretion above all else.Gravitas paired with the professional integrity and ambition to effectively represent and promote Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey externally at the highest levels and internally as a surrogate for senior leadership.Experience working in an affiliate structure is desired, but not required.A motivated team player with exceptional communication skills along with interpersonal savvy.Salary & Benefits:
