Data Engineer Team Lead (Hybrid) Chicago, IL

We integrate and optimize data at both project and enterprise levels, driving streamlined processes, greater efficiencies, and smarter decision-making. By focusing on the critical "last mile of data," we address the unique needs of various teams with tailored solutions, leveraging our software and AWS expertise. This high-energy, dynamic team operates at the heart of a business-critical domain.As a Team Lead, you will oversee a team of engineers in the design and implementation of technical solutions to address business challenges. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Analytics, and Operations, and work alongside other Software Engineering teams to ensure the delivery of impactful business outcomes.Our most effective Team Leads act as "multipliers," guiding peers through technical best practices and knowledge sharing. They excel in managing project timelines and expectations, fostering strong cross-functional partnerships, continuously refining the software development lifecycle (SDLC) process, swiftly addressing production and operational issues, and proactively managing risks to ensure seamless delivery.

Responsibilities:Lead a team and technical initiatives by designing and architecting solutions that meet the business needs, ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and performanceCollaborating with principals, peers, leadership, and the business to execute solutionsAct diligently to respond to urgent projects and tasksTroubleshooting discrepancies in existing databases, data pipelines, warehouses, and reportingWork as a “full stack” Data Engineer, contributing to each phase of the SDLC, building a new pipeline between two data sources or working with the business to design and develop a new dashboardUsage of Python, Go, Postgres, Kafka, and several parts of AWS.Advise on best practices and innovative designs/solutionsPerform other functions as assigned by management to support the operation of the businessRequirements:Experience designing, developing, and working with dimensional models is a must.10+ years of strong database and SQL experience7+ years of experience leading projects/teams from conception to completion in fast-paced dynamic environments5+ years of Python, OOP, SDLC, and CI/CD, designing and implementing ETL/ELT frameworks for complex data mart projectsProven experience in architecting, designing, implementing, and maintaining multi-layered SQL and Python processesExperience working with Jenkins/Airflow or other job orchestration/runner frameworksExperience working with Relational Database Management Systems, including PostgreSQL, RDS, and Cloud Data Warehouses such as Snowflake and AWS Redshift.A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related study is preferredNice to have: AWS and/or Snowflake CertificationsHybrid roles entail working in-office from Tuesday to Thursday, with the choice to work remotely on Mondays and FridaysHealth, dental, and vision insurance including mental health benefits401(k) matching plus a roth option (U.S. Based employees only)PTO & paid holidays offSabbatical program (for eligible roles)Summer hours (for eligible roles)Paid parental leaveDEI groups (B.L.A.C.K. @ Enova, HOLA @ Enova, Women @ Enova, Pride @ Enova, South Asians @ Enova, APEX @ Enova, and Parents @ Enova)Employee recognition and rewards programCharitable matching and a paid volunteer day…Plus so much more!About EnovaEnova International is a leading financial technology company that provides online financial services through our AI and machine learning-powered Colossusplatform.
