The position is responsible for managing engineering and plant projects, optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and productivity, supporting engineering administration, business process improvement, and supporting manufacturing and new product development across all D&W Fine Pack facilities. This individual reports to the Process Engineering Manager.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Engineering Process ManagementSupports the development programs and/or methods to optimize capability and reduce cycle time, improve manufacturing efficiency, and overall productivityTroubleshoots complex processes or equipment issues, providing technical leadership and training to resolve those issuesLeads the identification and resolution of equipment related process problemsDrives and supports cross-functional continuous improvement initiativesTracks and communicates project progress, providing regular updates on development and statusCollaborates effectively in a cross-functional environment working closely with team members from various departmentsSupports all phases of engineering projects including equipment, facilities, manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, quality, etc.Manages plant equipment installations, relocations, enhancements, and improvements across all D&W facilitiesEngineering Administration and Business Process SupportSupports the development and implementation of engineering administration systems and processes.Supports procedure development, control, and implementation within the departmentProvides specific training to production teams based on process needsAssists with IT/MIS projects related to the departmentAssists in generation and implementation of consistent product design methodology and standardsSupports budget creation and managementManufacturing / Product Engineering SupportSupports all new and existing equipment projects including, but not limited to:Project scope, Procurement, tracking, implementation and follow upEquipment enhancement and automation proposalsPreventative Maintenance proposalsSpare parts listsProject tracking and communicationMachine capacity, cycle-time, and labor analysisSupports new product/tooling/equipment commissioning and operational launchPerforms ongoing, regular assessment of existing equipment/processes and makes recommendations for cost, manufacturability, functionality, and quality improvementsSupports company Safety program, including inspections, training and policy developmentSupport CMMS throughout D&W facilitiesGeneral & AdministrativePerforms tasks as assigned by Project Engineering ManagerPrepares and delivers regular internal reportsProvides indirect leadership on assigned projects and initiativesUtilizes creativity and a high degree of latitude in performing dutiesQUALIFICATIONS:BS degree in Engineering field; or equivalent education/experience6+ years of experience in engineering and technical disciplines requiredExperience in plastic processing and project management preferredExperience with extrusion and thermoforming is preferredProficiency in automation systems is a plusStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in MS Office Suite and various IT/MIS applications, including ERP/MRP systemsAbility to lead cross-functional teams and influence project outcomesStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsFamiliarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)WORK ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and products with sharp edges.
