BWH EndocrinologyResponsibilities:
Arranging new patient appointments and testingParticipating and leading team meetings with provider team lead, providing data metrics and recommendations to improve accessTraining and mentoring new staffCoordinating follow-up appointments and follow-up testingObtaining prior authorizations for future testingPrioritizing phone calls and messages via in-basket and/or outlook based on urgencyRescheduling clinics to alternate dates based on provider availabilityArranging and opening P’s/PA’s and MD’s schedules to work through any pertinent issues or complicationsAnswering patient messages/phone calls relevant to scheduling and forwarding to medical provider of clinicalVerifying that patient’s insurances are accepted at BWHIf accepted, proceeding with scheduling; if not, working with insurance company to obtain authorization for out-of-network visits, ensuring appropriate hospital, BWPO is contacted to negotiate rateReaching out to supplemental departments to schedule patients for testing or consults with other specialtiesCoordinating office visits with other appointments such as other departments, other facilities in the area, testingRequesting records including paper records as well as imaging discs in particular format to be sent for physician reviewArranging admissions for patients through our admitting departmentCoordinating with other outpatient appointmentsContacting the patient to confirm their admission date, LOS, location, what they can bring with them, helpful contact informationInforming patient of any preparation instructions prior to outpatient testingContacting patients regarding appointments for confirmationRescheduling patients when needed and contacting them regarding the change of appointmentRequesting medical records and imaging be sent for physician reviewMinimum Requirements:
Level of Education Required:
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.Work Experience Required:
Minimum three years’ medical office or administrative support experience required. Some additional training in office systems or other post high school education preferred. Associate’s Degree or higher level education preferred, but not required.Location:
