Carries out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, code of conduct and applicable laws.Leads and motivates staff to perform duties in a safe and efficient responsible manner applying rules, regulations and policies with fair and consistent practice.Leads internal efforts in developing implementation of best practices throughout the shipping operation.Drives continuous improvement efforts across all locations, with a continued focus on achieving operational excellence across the distribution network.Defines KPI’s across the network and holds each site accountable on meeting or exceeding those targets.Manage day-to-day shipping operations, measures performance for on time, in-full delivery performance, shipping costs for all forms of transit, warehouse inventory management, warehousing productivity and quality, and workforce planning requirements.Performs root cause analysis for problem reconciliation and leads corrective action for complaints related to transportation, logistics handling and warehousing of finished products.Directs staff to support strategic customer care service objectives, enhance staff, team skills and competencies, and establish team performance objectives.Ensures that all carriers comply with legal, quality and safety standards.Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, quality control and purchasing.Defines and forecasts needed skills, tools and equipment to meet project objectives.Carries a safety focused mindset. Leads and drives safety initiatives across the network to ensure a zero-incident safety culture.Develops warehousing strategies for new products, assists Logistics in the preparation of RFPs to evaluate potential suppliers and makes appropriate recommendations to senior management.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or GED required with some post-secondary educationRequires a minimum of 10 years managerial experienceExperience with distribution and warehousingExcellent communication and presentation skillsHands-on experience with departmental metrics, experience monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of shipping operationsFamiliarity with MS Excel and MS Office suiteJDE/SAP/AX experience preferredExperience working/maintaining WMS systemAbility to travel 15%WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
