JOB GOAL: To facilitate the instruction and care of students with teachers by effectively providing support services
REPORTS TO: Principal/Assistant Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Possesses knowledge of District policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibilities2. Maintains professional competence through participation in District provided in-serviceactivities and/or self-selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities3. Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in schoolenvironment and community4. Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materialsor skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff5. Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials andskills based on the understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities6. Assists as directed by certified staff in the effort to successfully maintain students with specialneeds in an integrated setting, as determined by the grade level team7. Assists teachers in instructional activities that allow for differentiated learning opportunities8. Advises the certified staff and/or administrator to any problem or special information about astudent9. Develops positive working relationships with school personnel and parents10. Is capable of physically assisting students with special needs, including students usingwheelchairs, of any grade level (Preschool - 8th grade) with personal needs and care includingeating, dressing, positioning, bathing/cleansing, grooming, toileting, standing, bus loading,and lifting/carrying or supporting students who may weigh 60 or more pounds11. Assists with the monitoring and supervising of students during non-instructional times/areassuch as: classroom, hall, lunch, recess, bus, or as otherwise requested12. Promotes and models school behavior management programs13. Assists and carries out other duties assigned by supervising teacher and/or by buildingadministrator(s)
