The Vice President of Bermuda Finance will drive legal entity accounting and controls in addition to management and financial reporting for multiple large Bermuda reinsurance subsidiaries of Global Atlantic and Co-Investment vehicles. Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the Bermuda CFO, the successful candidate will design and lead automation and control initiatives, direct entity management and financial reporting, and identify and evaluate opportunities to support and enhance GA’s growth strategies and capital management for the Bermuda entities. The Vice President will provide timely and accurate financial reporting & analysis to executive management, the entity Board of Directors and Investors.
This position supports Global Atlantic’s Institutional Business, which is a major growth engine for the corporation, that develops reinsurance and acquisition opportunities both with US and international clients. In addition to possessing the specific qualifications cited below, all candidates must work well within a complex, fast-paced, fluid environment, and possess a proven ability to design and lead operational and accounting change. This role will have significant contact and visibility with senior executives of the Institutional business and the Bermuda reinsurance and corporate entities.
THIS POSITION IS BASED OUT OF OUR BERMUDA OFFICE, CANDIDATES MUST BE INTERESTED IN RELOCATING TO BERMUDA
Primary Responsibilities
Planning and coordination across source functions for the accounting close, remaining engaged in and providing analysis and control reviews of financial results as they emerge to ensure the accuracy of the legal entity results developed.
Synthesize and summarize detailed financial data to create meaningful, high-level, result-oriented analysis used for executive management reviews as well as board & investor reporting.
Develop quarterly dividend recommendation for Co-Investment Vehicles
Expand availability of monthly information and identify and champion initiatives to accelerate the close process
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and manage the annual audit
Develop and maintain process improvement capabilities and controls
Collaborate with SEC/GAAP/STAT/Bermuda reporting teams to prepare quarterly and annual audited financial statements, consistent with industry-leading practices
Monitor new and emerging accounting policy developments and assess impact on reinsurance activities, Institutional business, and our Reinsurer entities’ financial statements; Collaborate with Finance, Actuarial, Investments, Risk, and other stakeholders to assess, plan for, and implement new activities
Develop effective communication and partnerships with Institutional, Actuarial, Risk and Finance to achieve business goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or related field
Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant required
Prior Big 4 experience preferred
Minimum 14 years of experience in GAAP/SEC/ US Statutory reporting roles at life insurance companies and experience with reinsurance preferred.
Prior experience overseeing GAAP, SEC, or Statutory accounting and reporting functions required
Demonstrated expertise in GAAP, SEC, and Statutory accounting standards and practices—including LDTI
Demonstrated knowledge of insurance capital framework (EBS or RBC) required
Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally, and lead the assessment and implementation of new accounting policies
Proven leadership skills, and demonstrated success at building and managing technical teams
Strong communication skills, written and oral
Applies strategic thinking approach to work product
Demonstrated commercial acumen. Experience supporting sales, M&A, or other complex transactions a plus
