The Portfolio Manager role is credit oriented, reporting on a solid-line basis to the Commercial Credit Officer. Portfolio Managers are typically assigned to and support specifically designated Lending Officers and their respective loan portfolios. Performance reviews are prepared by the Commercial Credit Officer with input from the Regional Manager and Lending Officer to whom the PM is assigned. The Portfolio Manager uses their credit skills to underwrite and manage a portfolio of loans for both C&I and Real Estate. The PM works with lenders who solicit, develop and service a wide variety of commercial loans and lines of credit.
Under the direction and review of the Commercial Credit Officer, the PM is responsible for evaluating and making independent credit decisions and recommendations including but not limited to evaluating obligor risk ratings on both new and existing relationships and ensuring quality and soundness for credit transactions. The Portfolio Manager manages the approval and commitment process (e.g. Senior Loan Approval Committee), ensuring compliance with Credit Policy and accuracy of documents and supporting exhibits.
Commands a thorough and complete knowledge of the Bank's Loan Underwriting and Administration Guidelines (LUAG) and Credit PolicyMaintains timely renewals of loan maturities for assigned lending team.Continuously monitors current loans and credit lines to ensure compliance with terms and proactively manages risk/exposure and compliance with Credit Policy for assigned portfolio.Manages Covenant Compliance by monitoring, testing, and preparing waivers and Reservation of Rights letters when required;Facilitates borrower financial reporting submissions to Bank. Responsible for evaluating financial performance of borrower and based on a variety of factors determining an appropriate risk rating.Identifying early client risk/exposure, early detection of volatile industries and markets for assigned portfolio within designated region.Ensure the timely completion of credit file updates.Collaborates in coordinating pre-closing activities.Independently evaluates structures, risk rates and underwrites companies with risk exposure or potential risk exposure to the bank. Ensures appropriate compliance with all bank requirements and identifies exceptions to Credit Policy;Negotiates terms and conditions of credit with Loan Officers. Proactively manages credit risk and exposure for an assigned portfolio; initiates credit modifications and risk rating upgrading/downgrading, modifying terms and frequency of covenants, financial reporting, collateral security, audit schedule, etc.At the direction of and with assistance of Lending Management interacts via phone/email and may visit in person with existing customers and potential customers on credit or risk related matters.May identify cross sell opportunities

Portfolio Managers possess the ability to make independent lending recommendations which are based on their analysis and assessment of the business' and guarantor's capacity to repay, quality of collateral, character, management ability, capital adequacy, and other conditions that may apply. The PM must have the ability to interview loan applicants as needed to develop information concerning their business, financing needs, management abilities, and earnings to determine whether a loan made to a company would be an acceptable risk to the Bank. The Portfolio Manager must consistently demonstrate a high level of detail, accuracy, and have the ability to prioritize work. The PM will serve as a liaison between the assigned lending team and the Credit Administration/Operations Department.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Credit TrainingPrior Commercial Credit Analysis/Portfolio Manager experienceBachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent experience.
