The Strategy & Rare Disease (STARS) organization drives the long-term strategic direction of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI)/North America Operations (NAO) and leads all US commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk’s Rare Disease portfolio. The mandate of STARS is to facilitate the development and to coordinate the execution of the long-term strategy, defining a sustainable business model in the US beyond a 5-year time horizon. This department serves as the insiders of the US market when informing and helping shape upstream decisions around future investments and assets. The Rare Disease portfolio includes products in the hemophilia and growth disorders therapeutic areas, new products in the pipeline, and products acquired through business development efforts in existing and new areas. The STARS team collaborates and partners with groups across NAO, Research & Early Development, Development, innovation hubs across NN, other affiliates, and globally. We’re looking for individuals who are enterprise thinkers, inclusive leaders, and strong collaborators, as we embark on shaping our future.The PositionThe Associate Director (AD), Executive Office serves as a key partner to the Executive Director (ED), Executive Office & Consulting in developing, communicating, and executing key strategic priorities and initiatives in support of the North America Operations (NAO) Executive team (ET) and Office of the President of NAO. The AD, Executive Office will take an innovative and streamlined approach to project managing critical milestones and activities aligned with the NAO strategy and priorities and will also serve as a key driver of executive presentations, projects, memos, and communications.RelationshipsThis position reports to the Exec Director, Executive Office & Consulting, and works in close partnership with the ET and other key stakeholders to deliver high-quality project deliverables. This position interacts with cross-organizational stakeholders in the North American affiliate and works with related functions at Novo Nordisk globally to support alignment and content coordination as appropriate for key initiatives and executive communications.Essential FunctionsSupport implementation of long-term business strategies and relevant communications in support of the Executive Office.Drive the development of high-quality executive presentations and communications for EVP, North America Operations and President, NNI.Represent ED, Executive Office on key deliverables and projects, providing perspective and thought leadership on key decisions and topics.Develop high-quality oral and written content for ET meeting agenda topics, presentations, workshops, etc.Work closely with ET members, LT, CoEs, and relevant stakeholders as appropriate to identify data needs, required sub-analysis; ensure required follow-up to ensure deliverables and timelines are met.Execution and creation of clear storylines and analysis that translate key conclusions into actionable executive-level insights and recommendations.Project manage ET-related priorities and ET-sponsored projects as appropriate.Drive the execution of Executive Office deliverables and prepare content for presentations and communications to diverse global audiences, including Executive Management, Board of Directors, Management Board, PDComm, customers, and government officials, etc.Drive and execute preparation for quarterly Business Review Meetings (BRMs) with Executive Management, ensuring internal content alignment and readiness.Lead collaboration and communication with ET Strategic Advisors (Chiefs of Staff) to ensure alignment to Executive Office priorities and deliverables.Prepare ET meeting agenda and materials in partnership with Executive Office team and ET Strategic Advisors.Drive follow-up on execution and completion of key milestones, action items, and deliverables identified at ET meetings.Closely collaborate and manage relevant stakeholders in day-to-day activities through close communication and information sharing as appropriate.Drive and execute preparation of special projects for NAO or NNI to improve organizational agility, efficiency, and simplicity.Support 3-5-year strategy development for Novo Nordisk, Inc. to ensure clear and focused strategic direction and alignment with EVP, North America Operations and President, NNI.Physical RequirementsQualificationsA Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Degree in Finance, Business, Science, or related area preferred.Advanced degree in business management (MBA) is preferred.Demonstrated Project Management experience is preferred.10+ years overall relevant progressive business experience OR 8+ years of relative experience with an MBA or master’s OR 6 years of relative experience with a Doctorate degree can be substituted.Pharmaceutical and/or healthcare experience is preferred.Proven ability to influence senior management & drive/facilitate senior-level meetings.Demonstrated strength in problem-solving and developing streamlined solutions to complex issues.Prior experience structuring and executing quantitative analysis.Strong analytical capabilities and ability to synthesize complex information into simplified, user-friendly, persuasive formats and presentations.Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business requirements and operate at both the strategic and tactical level.Proven ability to effectively prioritize multiple and competing tasks, execute and follow-up in a timely manner, anticipate challenges and roadblocks, and work independently.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills for executive-level communication and collaboration.Strong command over MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word.Uncompromising ethics and high standard of personal integrity.We commit to an inclusive recruitment process and equality of opportunity for all our job applicants.At Novo Nordisk, we recognize that it is no longer good enough to aspire to be the best company in the world.
