Attend volunteer outings with other interns to give back in the community.Job Summary:This role is responsible for applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices in software development to electrical design projects that have limited complexity to support validation and verification of the various Chamberlain products. This role will be heavily involved in supporting designing, sustaining, and troubleshooting test automation equipment used in testing. The role will use NI LabView, NI TestStand, and other high-level languages such as C and C# to ensure that Chamberlain products meet behavioral and performance specifications.Essential Functions:Assist in the design mechanics, hardware, and software implementation of automated test machines for verification of the various Chamberlain products.Assist in developing tests in NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, and other high-level languages such as C and C# that provide coverage of all significant permutations of product behavior and validate all features.Ensure test coverage of new and existing features.Diagnose hardware and software test failures during product testing.Assist with product teams to plan, design, and implement test solutions.Ensure effective change control management is implemented on test hardware and software.Qualify, validate, and establish reliability and reproducibility for the test equipment.Advocate for testing, testing best practices, testing methodologies, and discipline.Write technical documentation like specifications and test reports to support project deliverables.Comply with the security requirements set forth by the Information Security team and the established ISO 27001 Security Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities Document found in the ISMS Document Library.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results and participating on projects as needed.Minimum Qualifications:Minimum Sophomore standing towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.Working knowledge of software development in at least one of: (embedded C, object-oriented programming in C#, C++, Java, or .Net).Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Must be able to work from our Elmhurst, IL lab (16 miles west of Chicago) 3 days a week and commute to Oak Brook, IL office (15 miles west of Chicago) as needed.Preferred Qualifications:Intern or co-op experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or software engineering.Basic understanding of application development tools, processes, and technologies.Knowledge of embedded devices, networking technologies, debuggers and functional/unit testing techniques.Desire to learn new technologies and skills as required.Some understanding of textual programming languages such as C, C#, Java, and other high-level programming languages.We are currently only considering applicants for internship and co-op positions who do not require employment sponsorship now or in the future.
