Job SummaryThe Chief Operating Officer, Ambulatory Division provides leadership to achieve operational and performance success for the Ambulatory Division of UCSF Health's Network Business Unit. The COO, Ambulatory Division is responsible for the execution and delivery of results, execution and communication of the network's strategic initiatives, and works in collaboration with network leadership. This leader will build and inspire teams at existing and new ambulatory operations who can successfully deliver on network-established goals related to clinical excellence, financial sustainability, and growth. This successful leader will be a relationship-oriented leader who continually focuses on engagement with patients and families, physicians, and staff. The COO, Ambulatory Division will build strong partnerships and alignment with community groups and leaders, physicians and physician leadership, and key leadership both locally and across the system; and, be expected to step in and assume other leadership roles as the affiliation evolves.

Department DescriptionThe UCSF Health Care Network is a growing part of UCSF Health that brings high-quality, equitable and affordable care to people throughout the Bay Area in partnership with other hospitals, physicians, and community groups. The team is highly collaborative and implements an engaging approach to improve UCSF Health's access, quality, and growth and bring to fruition the many joint ventures and affiliations UCSF Health has established in support of its strategic vision.

Required Qualifications

Extensive executive management experience in a complex health care organization.

Expert knowledge of health care delivery models, business and strategic planning, financial management, program development implementation and organizational development.

Experience with managing joint venture or other affiliate partnership models.

Experience with opening new services including pre-opening construction management, recruitment of new teams, and regulatory license approval/oversight.

Highly advanced ability to work collaboratively and effectively with medical center executives, campus leadership, external agencies, and other academic medical centers and healthcare institutions.

Expert ability to establish and utilize metrics to drive excellence, support operations and facilitate integration.

Expert knowledge of capital and operating budget development and management, financial analysis, and reporting techniques.

Advanced knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements as well as legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly advanced interpersonal skills. Expert negotiation and influencing skills.

Highly advanced ability to build and maintain a climate of trust that inspires commitment to achieve organization goals.

Bachelor's degree in business, health administration or clinical degree and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in business, health administration or clinical degree preferred.
