Position Description:
LCG is seeking a highly organized and experienced Software License Manager to oversee the complete lifecycle of software licensing within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of software asset management (SAM) tools, technologies, and processes, and will be responsible for managing software inventories, ensuring compliance, optimizing software usage, and maintaining all relevant licensing documentation. You will lead efforts to analyze software usage, identify underutilized licenses, and support the reclamation and redistribution of software assets to maximize efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain comprehensive software license inventories, ensuring accurate "proof of license ownership" and "proof of license purchase" documentation is available.Develop and maintain support documentation for all software licenses, including user manuals, purchase documents, and supporting artifacts.Identify unused or underutilized software licenses and provide recommendations for reallocation or remediation.Conduct regular assessments of the software license population, performing gap analysis and reviewing discovery data to recommend optimizations.Oversee the software license library, ensuring it contains essential details such as software descriptions, proof of purchase, license keys, and entitlements.Periodically audit software licenses to ensure license counts align with actual usage, and take steps to address any discrepancies.Reclaim unused licenses and redistribute them across the organization as needed to prevent over-licensing or underutilization.Develop and document the software license demand management process, ensuring that future needs are identified and addressed through data collection and analysis.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.At least 5 years of experience in software license management or a similar role.Extensive knowledge of software asset management tools and technologies.Proven track record of developing and maintaining software license inventories and managing related documentation.Expertise in analyzing software license usage, conducting gap analysis, and providing recommendations to management.Familiarity with End User License Agreements (EULAs), license models, and entitlements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience conducting data calls and surveys to assess future software license needs.Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various teams and contractors.Knowledge of industry best practices for software license management and compliance auditing.Demonstrated ability to leverage Microsoft 365 Copilot to improve efficiency in key areas of software license management, including drafting comprehensive licensing documentation, generating usage reports, summarizing audit findings, and preparing professional presentations for stakeholders.Can gain skills to coach team members on utilizing Microsoft 365 Copilot tools to enhance collaboration, streamline workflows, and optimize the management and monitoring of software licenses across the organization.
Compensation and Benefits:
The projected compensation range for this position is $115,000 to $135,000 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The target salary is $125,000. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
