Description:
Metric5 is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for work leading a software development project within the Department of Defense / NGA. The Senior Systems Engineer will work with an O&M team to securely maintain and deploy updates to the existing web-based knowledge repository that is built upon AWS Cloud technologies to all client domains. You are comfortable working side by side with other engineers, product managers, designers, and clients, making decisions together to quickly deliver valuable working software to clients and their users. You have a passion to maintain secure high-quality, reliable, and available software solutions and are a fast learner. This position is on-site in either Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO with some flexibility to work remotely.
Required Skills:
5+ years of experience with system administration, system patching and related duties
Designing, provisioning, monitoring, and administering AWS-cloud based applications
Building Microsoft Core Technologies on AWS
File Access Rights
Security+ Certification
System Security/Patching
Server Installation (Operating System)
Tier 2 troubleshooting of Servers
Tier 2 troubleshooting of VDI Environment
Monitoring system health, reporting and resolving hardware and software issues
Develops and documents Standard Operating Processes and Procedures
Follow up on customer support problems
Will require occasional after hours and/or weekend work to support operational issue resolution and maintenance windows
In-depth knowledge of AWS services
Hands-on experience in AWS resource provisioning
Knowledge of application deployment and data migration on AWS
Ability to design and operate high availability applications on AWS across availability zones
Ability to design applications on AWS taking advantage of disaster recovery design guidelines
Knowledge of monitoring, logging and cost management tools that integrate with AWS
Experience in AWS Networking – Direct Connect/VPC, NACL’s, security groups, etc.
Ability to work closely with business to understand and incorporate non-functional requirements in the application architecture
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related technical degree required and 2+ years’ experience with system administration, system patching and related duties
Understanding of Microsoft domain and networking technologies.
Comprehension of computer technology and ability to quickly learn related concepts and new software products.
Desired Skills:
AWS Certification
Experience with Service+
Experience configuring and maintaining Windows Servers
ITIL Foundations certification
Good oral and written communications skills with experience in delivering to a Government customer
Experience serving in an “on-call” role supporting emergency response to application or system issues
Salary Range:
$130,000 - $165,000 annually
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related technical degree required and 5+ years’ experience with system administration, system patching and related duties
Clearance:
US Citizen with TS/SCI Clearance
